How to Unlock No Stone Unturned

One overlooked passage can turn your Ori and the Blind Forest No Stone Unturned run into another trip through Nibel. The achievement requires finding every qualifying secret, and the original game includes areas where missed discoveries can cost you a fresh playthrough. Start your Ori and the Blind Forest No Stone Unturned hunt by checking your edition, then track the rooms you actually enter.

Finding every collectible and exploring the map are separate goals from finding every secret. An empty hidden room can matter, while an obvious collectible does not automatically identify a secret area. Move Ori fully into each concealed space instead of checking it off when you spot its entrance.

Your edition also changes which secret locations belong on your checklist.

EditionSecret totalWhat to check
Original Steam release42Use locations belonging to the original game
Definitive Edition45Include the additional secret locations in this edition

Keep those totals separate from numbered walkthrough stops. A route can include extra inspection points, and numbering alone does not tell you whether a room has registered.

Several exploration achievements overlap, but each has its own requirement:

  • So Many Secrets: Find your first secret.
  • Seasoned Explorer: Find 50% of all secrets.
  • No Stone Unturned: Find all secrets.
  • Master of the Forest: Visit 100% of the map.

Use the secret achievement’s progress alongside your own checklist. A completed map is useful for navigation, but it does not replace entering the secret locations.

Protect Your Run in Missable Areas

In the original game, Ori and the Blind Forest No Stone Unturned needs attention during the story. Leaving certain areas closes off unfinished business, and entering Mount Horu prevents you from returning to the rest of Nibel.

Ginso Tree

Watch the side walls while climbing through the portal rooms. Several concealed spaces sit to the right of the main route, making them easy to pass while concentrating on upward movement.

Check the upper recess reached with Double Jump and wall movement. Around the spider encounter, inspect the right-hand portal route and the lower space it reaches. Finish these searches before committing to the escape.

Misty Woods

Handle Misty Woods while navigating its foggy layout. Its secrets are difficult to track with the ordinary map, so use landmarks and a written checklist.

Inspect the right-hand recesses, the concealed wall near the Energy Cell route, and the passage opened by driving down a wooden post. Explore these spaces fully rather than assuming the main path has exposed everything nearby.

Forlorn Ruins

Carrying the light encourages you to focus on moving safely through the ruins. Pause that forward momentum to inspect side passages.

Near the light pickup, search to the right and follow the wall upward. Later, check the upper-left space reached by using Bash on a spider. Another concealed recess lies down and to the left after the section involving a post and an upper-right route.

Follow a Secret-Hunting Route Through Nibel

Organize your Ori and the Blind Forest No Stone Unturned checklist around landmarks. “Underwater wall near the Map Stone” is more useful during cleanup than a number you can no longer connect to a room.

The following locations give you concrete inspection points without mixing the original game’s route with Definitive Edition additions.

Sunken Glades, Hollow Grove, and Moon Grotto

Search the early Sunken Glades passages as you progress. After finding Spirit Flame, head down and left before leaving. Other early detours include concealed spaces below and beside the main route, including a right-hand opening and a passage containing a Life Cell.

In Hollow Grove, inspect the hidden-post location rather than treating the surrounding walls as solid boundaries.

Moon Grotto has an easily overlooked detour near the final falling-rock section. Turn right before moving on. It is a useful checkpoint to record immediately because “somewhere in the caves” becomes a frustrating cleanup note later.

Return to Sunken Glades when your movement abilities let you reach earlier inaccessible spaces. One elevated location can be reached with Triple Jump, or by bringing a frog into position and using Bash.

Thornfelt Swamp and Valley of the Wind

Thornfelt Swamp deserves an underwater sweep. Search the concealed right wall beneath the water, then check the area around the Map Stone and charging enemy. Climb the left wall there to inspect the upper passage.

Another detour lies left after breaking through wood with Stomp. Check beneath the water again for a separate hidden opening.

After leaving Misty Woods, search immediately below the exit before heading farther into Valley of the Wind. Another elevated space involves using Bash on an owl to reach the upper right.

Mark these as separate visits. Two nearby secrets can blend into one memory once you have crossed several regions.

Sorrow Pass and Mount Horu

In Sorrow Pass, alternate between climbing and checking the walls beside you. Inspect the left-side recess during the ascent, the narrow spaces around keystones, and the left-hand Energy Cell location.

Complete your outside cleanup before entering Mount Horu. Inside, continue searching after blocking lava instead of leaving each chamber immediately.

Check above the upper-right chamber’s lava-blocking section for an Energy Cell space. Inspect the concealed left-side opening in that chamber, the Map Stone alcove, and the recesses above and below later lava-control routes.

Near the end, check the right-hand climb before proceeding into the ending. Keep searching even when a room’s main objective is already complete.

Fix a Counter That Seems Stuck

A stalled Ori and the Blind Forest No Stone Unturned counter does not automatically mean you skipped a room. In the original Steam release, achievement progress can update late, including after exiting the game.

Enter the Room Completely

Revisit the interior of a secret you only brushed past. Revealing the opening and traveling into the space are different actions, so make your checklist reflect the latter.

Avoid repeatedly collecting nearby items as a substitute for inspecting the room. The achievement is about secrets, and some qualifying spaces have no collectible to draw your attention.

Save and Restart

Save before restarting if the counter appears frozen. Then check progress again before retracing a long route.

A counter that jumps by more than one after restarting does not prove the latest room contains multiple secrets. Keep your location notes intact instead of adjusting them to match every immediate notification.

Audit Misty Woods and Your Edition

For an Ori and the Blind Forest No Stone Unturned run stuck at 41/42, review Misty Woods carefully. Its foggy navigation makes it easy to remember the main route while overlooking a side passage.

Also check whether your checklist contains Definitive Edition locations while you are playing the original release. An unreachable marker from another edition will waste time without helping your current achievement.

Use This Order for Your Completion Run

Plan your Ori and the Blind Forest No Stone Unturned cleanup around the story’s access restrictions. Collect what you can during normal progression, then sweep accessible regions before entering the final area.

  1. Record early discoveries. Check the Sunken Glades, Hollow Grove, and Moon Grotto detours as you reach them.
  2. Search Ginso Tree during the climb. Inspect side rooms before leaving the area.
  3. Sweep Thornfelt Swamp. Check underwater walls, elevated recesses, and the passage beyond the breakable wood.
  4. Search Misty Woods during the fog sequence. Record each concealed passage by its nearby landmark.
  5. Clear Forlorn Ruins before leaving. Include the light-carrying detours and spider-assisted Bash route.
  6. Finish Sorrow Pass and earlier backtracking. Return to movement-gated locations with your later abilities.
  7. Audit everything outside Mount Horu. Resolve unchecked rooms before crossing its entrance.
  8. Search Mount Horu before the ending. Inspect each chamber after its lava changes, then check the final right-side passage.

In Definitive Edition, unlock Sense, the final ability in the purple ability branch, to see hidden areas through walls. Use that visibility to locate entrances, then move into the spaces themselves.

Before the original game’s final area, check your notes for these essentials:

  • Every Ginso Tree detour was entered.
  • Misty Woods passages were checked during the foggy route.
  • Forlorn Ruins side rooms were searched before leaving.
  • Accessible regions have no unchecked secret locations.
  • Delayed achievement progress has been rechecked after saving and restarting.

Keep those notes until the achievement unlocks. They give you a precise place to resume if your total stops short.

FAQ

How many secrets does Ori and the Blind Forest No Stone Unturned require?

The original Steam release uses a total of 42 secrets. Definitive Edition has 45 secret areas. Match your checklist to the edition you are playing.

Is No Stone Unturned missable in the original game?

Yes. Ginso Tree and Forlorn Ruins cannot be revisited after leaving. Search Misty Woods during its foggy sequence, and finish outside cleanup before entering Mount Horu.

Why am I stuck at 41/42 secrets?

Check for an overlooked room, incomplete entry into a hidden space, or delayed achievement progress. Revisit accessible interiors, save and restart, then audit Misty Woods and your edition’s checklist.

Does exploring 100% of the map unlock No Stone Unturned?

Map exploration and secret discovery have separate requirements. Master of the Forest concerns map coverage; No Stone Unturned requires finding all qualifying secrets. Check concealed rooms individually even when the map looks complete.
